Cultured
Monopoly
Us
by the board, across from each other,
Acting mature, I and my brother.
Biding our time, and sipping our tea,
Playing some cultured monopoly.
"Your
turn good fellow," I heard him say
In a most jovial, uncompetitive way.
I took the dice, gave them a shake,
And gingerly took a bite of my cake.
I
watched them go up, I watched them go down.
I watched them roll six, and I watched Zach frown.
"I believe I got Park Place," I remarked with glee
"I also got doubles, a three and a three."
Determination
in eyes, I took the dice in my hand,
I let them go, watching where they would land.
They flipped in the air and to me they fell true,
They teetered a bit, but landed on two.
His
composure was lost. His match had been met.
I landed on Boardwalk, which gave me a set.
YOU CHEATED! He yelled, his face turning red.
He lunged at my throat, screaming 'You're dead!'
Would
I cheat? I exclaimed, but he didn't believe.
He grabbed at my shirt, tearing my sleeve
We wrestled and tussled, knocking over a plant
Yet he still yelled: Recant! Recant!
Good
grief! I gasped, It's not like I won.
You've still got a chance, the game isn't done.
He suddenly stopped. Oh ya, he exclaimed.
I've still got the railroads, they haven't been claimed.
We
picked ourselves up and saw the huge mess
How this got started twas anyone's guess
I looked over at Zach, while sipping my tea
He just smiled back, uncompetitively...
